Today is the 8th anniversary of the devastating Brisbane River Flood which affected thousands of homes across Ipswich and Brisbane on Tuesday 11 January 2011. Goodna was the hardest hit suburb in SEQ with over 600 properties affected.

The flood reached 16.77 metres above sea level at Goodna (officially known as Australian Height Datum) compared with the highest flood on record at Goodna in 1893 which reached 22.77 metres.

Images are attached of the 2011 flood at Goodna including the Pillar of Courage unveiled by the Prime Minister on 11 January 2012 showing various flood heights including the 2011 flood (yellow) and the top of the pillar (purple) showing the height of the 1893 flood at Goodna.
